I can stand!!

Fischer started pulling himself up last weekend, and now he's getting really good at it. He still hasn't crawled, but he can get where he needs to go by scooting on his butt or scaling the furniture. We put the gates up yesterday to keep him contained.

Kalahari Resort

This year I had a continuing ed. conference in the Dells, so we made a family vacation out of it. Fischer, Pete, and I went down Friday morning and Grandma Nede joined us that night. Fischer loved the waterpark and the theme park - he even got his first ride on a ferris wheel! Dave, Tori and Josie Flood were also there to join in the fun as well as Jayne and Megan Strama. We had a great time hanging out in our poolside cabana!! And many thanks to all the babysitters while Tori and I were in class!!

To the fair!!!

Fischer and Grandma Nede spent more time at the Taylor County fair Friday night than Pete and I have in the past 5 years! First thing Saturday morning Grandma, Fischer and Pete went back for more. They got there around 7 am.... before it was really even open!! Fischer loved all the animals.... except for that big mean goose. It honked right in his face and he cried... real tears!

Fischer's growing so fast.... just like everyone warned us! He's sitting up on his own pretty well now. He loves his toys... always grabbing for something. He's a noisy little guy too!

Sunday was Fischer's 1st day at the pool.  We've been anxious to take him for a long time since he acts like such a clown in the bathtub.  He wasn't so sure about it though... he was just sort of taking it all in.  He didn't get mad... just not as silly as we expected.  We hope to take him again soon so he's ready to go swimming at Grandma Nede's!

Kelsey Nuernberger has been babysitting for us until Fischer starts daycare next week. I think we're all getting spoiled.... she gives him baths, helps me with laundry, baking, whatever.... and Fischer is always full of smiles when she's around. I'm not sure which one of us will miss her the most!!

We thought this poor kid was going to be bald forever, but he's getting some blond hair now. His little legs are getting chunkier by the day. Next week he'll be 5 mos old already. He had a checkup this morning - he weighed in at 15 lbs 13 oz, and 24.5 inches long.

Visiting Great-Grandpa Marty

Fischer is a man of many hats.... but this one is our favorite! We made an emergency visit to IL last weekend after Grandpa Marty broke his leg. He had surgery on Thursday to repair his femur. We took Fischer to the hospital on Saturday to see him. Grandpa needed a good laugh, and Fischer seems to have that effect on people with his goofy bibs and hat!

The last day of Daddy Daycare

I'm not sure what goes on around there, but apparently they have strawberry jelly for breakfast! Pete's finally back to work... so Fischer's off to Sand Box on Wed thru Fri. for the next few weeks.

Fischer's great-grandmother, Lillian Allman, is 93 on April 4th, 2009. I love this picture.... they're currently the oldest and the youngest on the Thums' family tree.

Ellie is figuring out that Fischer isn't so bad afterall.

11 weeks

It's amazing what a good nights sleep can do! Fischer is full of smiles in the morning.... making it near impossible for his Mom to get to work on time! We can't believe how fast he's changing.

The miniature copilot

Here's Fischer in one of his many airplane outfits. Fischer had his first plane ride at 6 weeks old. Grandpa Larry flew to Medford and picked us up. Fischer did great - he slept the whole way, and probably enjoyed the flight much more than a 5 hour car ride! Two weeks later we were headed to IL for another visit. It happened to be another beautiful weekend, so we did it again. This time Mom was pilot in command. I never dreamed that we would put Fischer in an airplane this soon, but it's wonderful - he just sleeps. It's his Dad that we have to try to keep calm!

Spring Break 2009

This lucky kid has yet to spend a day in "daycare." Grandma Nede kept him all week since she was on spring break. I think they were both in heaven. They about burned the wheels off of his stroller once they got a few nice days! And the best part of the week..... Fischer started sleeping through the night at 10 weeks old. THANK YOU GRANDMA!!
