Tough Mudder 2011

While my boys were home being spoiled by their grandparents, their "tough mother" was off trying not to embarass herself at Wisconsin's "Tough Mudder." This was all Sean's bad idea... i don't know if he caught me at a weak moment, or just plain tricked me.... either way... it was not nice to get me roped into this!

Here's a description from the WI State Journal:
"The Wisconsin debut of Tough Mudder, a 10-mile obstacle course of mud, walls, burning bales of hay, tubes, steep hills and electricity, had 7,500 participants slogging their way through a course designed by a guy who spent five years chasing terrorists in the Middle East and Southeast Asia."

Great idea, huh?! So after months of hard work and training.... we did it! And it was awesome - what a riot! The hills were steep, the walls were tall, most of the water was disgusting, and I have minor road rash on my rear..... but I would do it again... it was all for fun, and the camaraderie was the best part. Everyone helped everyone, even those not on your team. We finished in just under 3 1/2 hours.

Drew's 1st Birthday

On July 1oth Drew turned 1. Clark Griswald, I mean Sean, rented a bounce house for the party.

A very busy July

Fischer spent 2 weeks in IL in the month of July. He was very busy combining wheat and oats with Larry and Nede. I wasn't sure he would ever come home... lots of swimming, riding the 4-wheeler, riding his bike, visiting Grandma Dory and Grandpa Marty, checking cattle....

Stanley stayed home with us.... a little too much action down there for a little guy. He's doing great - happy as long as someone is talking to him. He just laughs and sucks his thumb! He was very happy though when his big brother came home!

We were out-numbered this year.... 6 parents and 7 babies! We brought Grandma Nede along for a second set of eyes.... and Jimmy & Karie also joined us for a night. Pictured above: Shary & Neil with Lyla, Hunter & Landry.... Pete & Julie with Stanley & Fischer..... Dave & Tori with Josie and Vivienne. We stayed at the waterpark for the most part; on Monday we ventured out for a ride on the Wisconsin Ducks. It was so much fun, the time always goes way too fast when we get together.
